Everyone deserves to live in beauty
Great design transforms the way you live every day. It soothes, it stimulates, it inspires. It is both art and science. We naturally love to live in spaces that answer the practical questions of light, traffic flow, privacy vs togetherness--even acoustics. But a great space also also has to have a strong aesthetic. My work pulls all of this together into a seamless, beautiful, very livable home.
The result is a place that embraces you at the end of the day--a place where you feel proud to host your friends, relaxed about dogs and children, and supported in your daily tasks.
Yes, really. Design can do this for you.
A lifetime of education in design
I grew up in a house full of antiques, where rearranging the furniture was a family sport. After studying at Carnegie-Mellon University and the UCLA School of Architecture and Interior Design, I apprenticed with renowned west coast designer Barbara Barry.
In addition to this long education, to every project I bring years of experience, the influence of extensive travel, and the privilege of having lived in all kinds of houses from an open plan carriage house in California to a classic New England farmhouse that has evolved over centuries.
Susan Oster Design was founded in 1997 in Los Angeles. Over the past 15 years, we have developed a loyal following on both coasts.
